Anime North is near and I am nervous/excited about it! Excited cus I’ll lose my artist alley virginity, nervous cus there’s no one to fall with me if I mess up anything )=
I went to Staples today to order some prints. I was originally going to order them in batches, but all in 1 run, so I can use the discount coupon I found online ($25 off for every $100 spent) multiple times. Then I found out it can only be used once per customer technically, so if I want to cheat, I should have one stack done before ordering another stack, or go to another store. So I only ordered 2 out of 9 different things that I need today from 2 different stores. Tomorrow is a national holiday so everything closes… I will have to drive to more different locations for the next few days to save my precious money. I hope I can make it, and I hope they turn out ok!
I didn’t draw 2 of the pieces I intended to draw (one of which is very important cus it was supposed to be a gift for someone! ”’orz) because I am so damn slow. I didn’t expect to take so much time (thus the lack of sketches/wips on this blog despite the fact that I am on vacation), especially on the bookmarks because previous cel-shaded works took no time. But the bookmarks did contain 10 people with quite some detail so it was bad scheduling on my part. I also took a lot of time editing tiny little details that don’t matter on my older pieces. I really didn’t want to use some of the pieces because I despise them, but I’d have nothing to print. They make me realize how little pieces I have that I am happy with )= This problem is mostly caused by the fact that I didn’t put enough attention at various stages of drawing and I didn’t have the patience to polish them. I wish I can stop doing that…
I am nervous about how many prints per item to buy, because I was afraid to get too many leftovers to collect dust afterwards (even though I can sell them online, really), but I really have 3 (+1) conventions to go to and I want to prepare for all of them at once to save traffic troubles (and make the most out of the coupons). So I have to predict my sales with no prior experience. I asked a few people who have gone to Artist Alleys before, but I still can’t make a comfortable estimate. I myself am a huge cheapo; I saw some awesome prints in the AA of AN last year–some of htem were the ones from DA that I loved–but I didn’t spend a buck on anything, so naturally I can’t imagine people wanting to spend money on something such as, for example, prints of originals.
My dad was not of much help either when it comes to the issue above. He was all excited about me being able to earn money there and kept asking how many I think I can sell (and keep suggesting an astronomical number in sheer hope). He was also joking about the event that I sell out, I can phone him and he will dash to Staples to print more for me. It’s only giving me more pressure and uncertainty of whether or not I will be a disappointment. What is this! I am supposed to have fun there and I am already ruining it for myself!
I’ve decided the amount already though (cus there are only 5 more days til AN!) so I will just hope that I’ll be OK! I haven’t felt intimidated by something (other than the man of my dreams) for a lonnggg time.

Hahaha don’t worry about it too much. Have lots of fun, and try not to stress yourself out.
Maybe you can give me some advice after this is all over, because I want to sell prints and stuff for a convention next year or so.
