Hm. I hear you, understand all to well the complexities in dealing with majoring toward something that may or may not feel at times worth it, at all; However, for me there is a strong feeling of being competent now when compared 2 years ago; Study bug bit, re-molding into being a bibliophile. “I have a propensity to accumulating wealth’s of knowledge, and people who appreciate the written word, art life, and tendency for creativity.”
i took a portfolio course in grade 12, 20 of the 22 students were accepted (I think into ocad?) and I was one of the two. We all had the same type of content (life drawings, business designs, concept design etc) so I’m sure the type of stuff I put in there wasn’t the problem. it’s 100% the interview or the quality of the content. it’s okay though, I am glad that I didn’t have to make the choice between art and music, and staying in town and out of town. despite how bad I made school out to be, I’m pretty sure I’m in a better situation now than if I had gone to OCAD 4 years ago lol
I’m in a love-hate relationship with school LOL
Hang in there, you’re almost done! Seeing the graduates walking around last week was kinda inspiring for me ;; That’ll be you in the fall =D and then you’ll be free from bs-ing and essays or things that you hate about school XD
o.o I thought the OCAD interview was pretty easy but I somehow think it’s based on luck -_- but my parents don’t really like the thought of me going there ’cause it’s too specialized in art = not broad enough of an edu. Just out of curiosity–you don’t have to answer though ^^–but what kind of stuff did you include in with your port-folio?
There is nothing stated in life that says you’ll succeed with a college education. I know plenty of people who either went, or are attending, to Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Oxford or graduated top of their class yet they epically failed in life. that or later got hooked on drugs and lost all their money to gambling. A diploma may guarantee an edge in the market, but they give out diplomas to anyone these days.
A being considered smarts is not based solely upon the ability of getting good grades. There are some people who are textbook smart yet do not have any leadership skill or street-smart skills what-so ever.
I think the formula for ‘success’ is extremely different for everyone else (like that 17 year old kid who became a millionaire because she designed websites)
What ever you do plan to do in life, just do what you feel is right and never let anyone tell you otherwise!
You are hating your school now, but after graduation you’ll miss all that happy and sad days in school, i graduate from 2 years, and i feel lonely without my friends .. umm coz after finishing school we separated to our future path , even we don’t have time to call each other, some of them got married, some of them got jobs, some of them staying at home hoping for a good job or married .. =)
you’ll say : no i’ll not miss it ! .. but you’ll see .. ^^
