!!! I’m drawing an original piece OMG
although the pic is already not turning out the way I expected it to be (I didn’t mean to paint it like this but ended up doing so after painting her face and hair) I’m having a lot of fun going nuts over my own characters again. If only drawing everything is like this SIGHHH

This is really nice. :) I know it isn't what you intended, but it turned out far better than I would have ever imagined- should you have tried to convey the piece through your words haha.
My favorite parts would most likely be her nose/lips and the roses.
However, I do have a few inquisitions of my own…
1.) How are you able to get such detail into the armor/metal craft?
2.) Does it take much patience and/or reference images?

aww looks like I accidentally saved over the file and it's showing the wrong thing ): but I work really big and the details are actually not that refined close up, so I am able to do what looks like immense amount of work in a reasonable time. I do reference but I look at it only for the general feel, I don't actually copy and lighting or design dynamics. I try to put a lot of detail mostly because I enjoy it, no other reason XD

Out of curiosity, do you paint and shade everything on a single layer or do you work on separate sections and merge them together as you go along :O?

I usually colour everything on a single layer because I have lineart to guide me; I'm not doing lineart for this piece and my sketch is really rough, so I've been keeping separate layers for the rough so that if I ever need to adjust the shape of one thing, I will not have to waste time changing the shapes of everything around it. so far I have a layer for her hair, the red part of the clothes, metallic ornaments, and everything else is on the background layer.

I-i-it's BEAUTIFUL…. *single tear* I must say, as much as it is striking it holds this somewhat haunting aura around it. Very nicely done—and it isn’t even finish! It could make Steven Segal AND Chuck Norris cry and cuddle puppies and kittens!

If you don't mind me asking, how so? Are you looking for the color scheme to get the emotion across or her expression?

it's mainly the lighting; it's too close and clear at the moment since I was hoping for a more distant effect. I didn't plan much when I drew the face because I just wanted to go nuts XD so it didn't turn out as expected. I can probably cheat at the end with some filters and layers though.
