I haven’t drawn lineart in ages and I hate it even more now that I’m painted without lineart. I wasted so much time today free transforming body parts because the sketch was so bogus, like I have done in the past. Totally not doing this next time ):

Oh wait… I kind of do have to draw lineart for bookcovers…

… and 2 character profiles that I have to do…

But at least I have SAI this time which took so much hell out of the process because the pen brush is so solid and smooth and doesn’t make me look like I’m high on coffee . I don’t understand why it’s so hard to implement this kind of brush on Photoshop (unless there already is one, I am still using CS lmfao) because I mean while precision is good, I think most people would ZOOM IN when they need that kind of microsensitivity ):

In other news I took another 1 hr and wrote down the other half of the song today. I’ve worked with choral music too much obviously, because it sounds just like lame choral music right now… I was going to post the lyrics but then I remembered how hopelessly SAPPY it is so I decided not to LMFAO. I wish I have more time to finish thissss

    wow, your lineart is sooo clean :D and the song is really nice too! my friend and i tried composing a few songs before but they were made for two people since we LOVE playing duets together and it sounded waaay too happy go lucky xD. Any way of me downloading the song by the way? it's really nice :D

    !!☆☆☆!!
    I am excited for the release of that cute painting |D
    As for the song, I saw the sunrise too for the chorals, but the tune as a whole doesn't only give me "morning"; the first half especially pictured a rolling landscape, dungeons, then mountains, and then a sunlit stream interrupted by children. After that came towns. It sort of reminded me of OP themes or character songs haha!

  3. The song is absolutely beautiful! And I envy your linearting skills! Would love to be able to make thin and delicate looking lines as you'd see in most tv animes like that. Sai to me is one of the best programs for inking out there. I used to ink with Painter but it seemed that with every other piece I'd work on, Painter would decide "So you worked 3 hours on that hair to make the lines nice and thick eh? TIME TO CRASH!" and then it would spit out this mangled version of the psd file. Many tables were flipped…

    No idea why Photoshop doesn't have something like this yet. It would be a real benefit to all the cg artists who work mostly in Photoshop and would save time since you don't have to use one program to ink and then port it over. Oh and I have the latest version CS5 and the brushes still aren't very ink friendly. Good luck with the portraits and book covers!

      oh man that most likely was not fun but I have to admit I laughed at the screenshot LOL. I would've raged so hard if it happened to me but I keep putting off backing up my stuff

    Wow, the song is gorgeous! (as is the lineart, of course–Kyaan for more tender BBxVeloce! ♥) I didn't know you played clarinet too. :D Beautiful tone, and even more beautiful song… wow, it's so complex, I'm really impressed you wrote it yourself. I like the melody that starts up around 0:55. Especially from 1:07 to the end, the music is just so gorgeous–nice serene clarinet + synth melody with that wonderful, rapid piano line "murmuring" underneath… reminds me of a brook, somehow. Love it! But where's the first half that everyone's talking about?

    • { Shilin }

      Thank you ^^ I don't play the clarinet; I wrote the score on sibelius, then created the mp3 using a music composition program that has a nice sound base. So no musician was involved in this LOL. The first half is just the first half of what you hear in this version, I posted it before as a WIP when it was only half done, that's what people are talking about (:

  5. amazing details!! *.*
    i usually hate drawing line art =.= it takes soooo long to finish. and i usually like drawing lots of details so it takes even more extra time, almost days or weeks to finish @@
    and because of that i stopped drawing digitally and switched to traditional. but i will return to digital someday XD

    the song is pretty nice! gives me the feeling of…. being in the mountains watching sun rise XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD [i'm so idiotic]

    • { Shilin }

      ya I used to take forever with my lineart too XD and that's so weird both you and ros thinks it sounds like sunrise haha, I wonder why XD

    Your lineart is gorgeous!
    I love SAI's pen tool too. For lineart, sometimes I use the SAI's vector pentool on a new linework layer. It saves a lot of time since I can manipulate the line's pressure, curves, adding and deleting points,… just by using my tablet buttons.

    • { Shilin }

      Oh I didn't know SAI has vector too. I've been opening my files back and forth between photoshop and SAI just to use photoshop's pentool for vectors LOL OOPS

  7. I love the details in the line arts! *__* Agh, Veloce's arm-band and her hair ornaments are amazing!

    The song is really good! I like the contrast between the segment you posted earlier and this piece.
