So recently I’ve acquired my 2nd figurine: the second BRS rock cannon version! I loved it to death when I saw the prototype, got disappointed when I saw it in colour but I still wanted it anyway! Even though I’m not crazy about the character design, I just couldn’t get over how awesome the pose is and that it stands. But as it turns out, since it was from ebay and it was cheap, it was fake. I could tell from the box and the face/floor painting, because I looked up so many images of it before. I was going to return it, but it would be a fuck ton of hassle plus I’d probably have to pay for shipping as penalty for being noob. The guy offered to refund me half the money and I could keep it, which would make the figurine dirt cheap; and from reading distance, it’d probably take someone who knows the char/the figurine to tell it was a fake. So I decided to keep it! now it’s on top of my shelf (lol safely away from close examination) next to mr bahamut, who is probably fake too lolol
I have no idea what’s going on with the chain piece, I couldn’t figure out how to assemble it correctly ):
Maybe one day when the BRS figure isn’t like fucking $200 I’ll get a real one, but for now I think I’m content with this $20 fake courtesy of people from the motherland

With ebay figures, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You can usually tell by the air brush job and paint quality. The face is usually a good giveaway.
My suggestion is to go on myfigurecollection.net and look up the figure they want. They're database is very accurate on figure… everything. It also tells you if there are bootlegs of the figures and shows pictures of them.
Though I must tell you, bootleg figures are definitely looking better in quality. This is good to have at your work desk without really caring if it gets slightly damaged or not.

Wow that's pretty nice for what you got it for. I would be contempt even having a fake figurine since I don't have even one. When I have a job in the near future perhaps I'll buy some. I've always wanted a Kos-mos figurine and Rin from Fate/Stay Night UBW.

The figure still looks awesome, I wouldn't be able to tell whether it's fake or not! Little pieces like those chains sticking out makes me nervous though, ever since a figure I had with little pieces like that sticking out fell from an earthquake (this was when I was out in Japan) and the pieces shattered ffffff :( Be careful not to knock it off any high places I guess?

It's made of a pretty soft resin so they wouldn't shatter or anything, but I shall still make sure my cat doesn't get a hold of it LOL

The pose is pretty awesome. If I remember correctly, the BRS figma is around 50-80 bucks if you're interested(http://www.kidnemo.fm/product/en/190/Black+Rock+Shooter+figma+Action+Figure.html). Just it doesn't have the usual checkerboard platform and chains.
