4 more days

Until my art book will be available for preorder!

´Д` Then I can finally post new art and move on with my life LOL… and then 2 or 3 more weeks and then I can finally DRAW NEW ART why did I bring this on myself LMAO. I don’t mind drawing a ton of pages per week but it really helps improve my mental state to know that I can slack and draw other stuff anytime I feel the need to and I’m just being responsible with my choices, rather than telling myself I’m doing this because if I don’t I won’t finish stuff in time ughh

I realized a while ago when chatting with a friend that I am all business when it comes to reaching milestones (AS I AM WITH EVERYTHING ELSE ACTUALLY…) so I decided to celebrate my art book a little and go out for some ice cream on preorder night HAHA… I can’t believe I wanted to go for like the past 1-2 years and I NEVER WENT, even though it’s like 10 minutes from my place what is wrong with me ): but fear not ice cream crepes, I will come claim you this weekend.

I’m pretty much done with my late romantic period so I’ve been looking for different music to listen to, and looking through billions of songs you’ve heard billions of times is HARD HAHA. But I’m back to baroque stuff now–or in this case late romantic renditions of baroque stuff LOL. I fucking love the fact that they’re so focused on forms (not sure if this one applies tho I don’t deserve to pass music history lmao) I don’t know why this always gets me off so much more than emotional downpours of romantic stuff and totally makes me wanna cry. same for art, too! I just may have some serious obsessions over control and constrain

Anyway have some busoni! This is only the second half but this is what I’ve been listening to haha

Ending with a wall of self reflection which might inflict brain damage so I’ll put that behind the cut (:

New York

I’m home from NYAF! Thanks so much for coming by, saying hi, buying stuff and being such good sports in general :D I stayed for a week so that I could run around new york city after the convention is over. It turned out to be more of a travel/vacation to new york than going there for a con. The convention had nice hours so my friends and I was able to have a ton of happy fun time everyday after the con with food, games and ever so slight amount of drinking. A lot of my friends also visited during the con, I guess it was because of its location and size that so many people I knew were there and kept me awake/sane/entertained. I ran around the entire city on thursday morning, as well as monday and tuesday afterwards and I loved my stay there thoroughly. It was just a shame that my flights there and back were terrible due to the weather and the fucking border guards ruining my life for me treating me like an illegal immigrant, BUT I CAN LOOK PASS THAT I THINK…… I’m just so glad that all the misfortunes before and during my trip there were nothing more than scares, and the trip was both enjoyable and worthwhile, because my luck has been seriously fucked up LOL

NYAF next week!!

Since I just realized that some people here don’t follow me anywhere else and therefore miss most of my announcements: I’ll be going to New York Anime Festival next weekend!! the Artist Alley is on the 4th floor,  please do make a trip there if you’re going :D I’ll be at table B22, at the far back LOL CRY Q___Q I am kind of looking forward to the con, somewhat worried because I’ve heard mixed things about the con and my circumstances forced me to ship a lot of stuff there (shipping any less would’ve cost me more money, even I don’t understand why or how) and I’m worried about not being able to carry all the leftovers back home if it turns out to be a bad convention. But mostly I’m just worried about NYC public transit because I’m staying at a place far away before and after the con and idk, ny never struck me as a friendly city so if I get lost or step in somewhere I’m not supposed to be, I’M DOOMED LMFAO ALDSFJLFshflkjkgh common sense please protect me

that aside, drawerings!!

special request for Flow! ugh 3rd classes UGH LOL CANT LIE ABOUT MY FERVENT HATE FOR 3RD CLASSES… also he looks like my archbishop lmfao fml /sameface

Got this shortly after posting that photo before. I was going for this mirror-like reflective floor like tiv and nardack but I very quickly cluttered the floor up with crap AS USUAL… I ran out of crap to fill at the top but now I think it’s ok to have some breathing room haha, I’ll have to get rid of some stuff at the bottom to balance it out so it doesn’t look like everything is falling into the bottom of the picture LOL. or leave it as is and put a title over the top for a book cover but this is obviously unacceptable as an official cover;;;;

I kinda really want to cg this picture but I just don’t have the time rn ): It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to rush and ruin ideas so I write them down in words… maybe they’ll turn out nicer and more well thought out since all I can do about them is work on them in my head.

sweater weather

I thought I wouldn’t buy a new sketchbook because of all the crap I had to put up with, but in the end I still like being able to just flip to a page and draw I guess… and my table wouldn’t just be littered with sketch landmines that my parents can randomly flip over and detonate HAHA. So I bought a new one but I didn’t know how to look for what kind of books to buy, the pages in this one turned out to be really soft ): my hb pencil feels like a 2b on here ffff I like hard paper

more breaks! I did this last night in 5-minute intervals because I really wanted to sketch shit but I felt guilty since I should be working on pages HAHA. poofy clothes and bare legs LOL I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY FOR MYSELF

Some more pages! I am going to bring some sketched out pages to new york to ink with any minutes free time I have to help my work rate LOL. MY LIFE MUST SOUND SO TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW but I assure you it is not

idk when I would ever use these but I love these colours idc

old sketch

I don’t have anything to post so I GO BACK IN TIME TO FIND SKETCHES I FORGET TO POST HERE FROM TUMBLR HAHA. Click for bigger image!
I think this was another drawing that was supposed to only have blackbird but veloce invaded how r00d

drawing out a rigidly planned/thumbnailed story this time around wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I remember the first manga I started many, many years ago, I quit it and got bored of it because the story was already written out to every last detail that I felt like a printer printing out pages into art format. I’m not sure what changed but I haven’t gotten tired of drawing this book yet. Maybe it’s because my thumbnails are so ridiculously funny looking that I look forward to drawing them properly, or maybe it’s because I’ll be seeing it in print that makes it motivating.

I read this chinese novel my mom recommended to me last year or the year before; it was a very simple romance novel based on a true story during the cultural revolution. It was bland and simple and the characters were dumb (because well, it’s a true story) but my mom said that it was such a hit among people of her generation because the way the story was depicted spells out society and life in that era very plainly and truthfully. She wanted me to read it because it was the most effective way anyone can show anyone else the world from another time–through the eyes of people living during those times, so in this case, the characters of the story. I don’t know if I’ve been effected by that mentality but it was what I wanted to do with carciphona. Not that I don’t care about its characters, in fact I do dearly and everybody–even people who don’t do jack shit now–has something to contribute, but on top of the characters, I really do want the readers to see a convincing world from the characters’ eyes.

My world was really loosely built before this year so all of the story parts I’ve written have little focus on the environment. I’m also not a big reader so my writing skills and knowledge base is really limited. So far I’ve always relied on dialog between people of different backgrounds to describe the ways of the world, when true customary practices should show themselves in the environment, background, within the actions and reactions of people towards certain things without the need of words. I hope I can work some of these fixes into the next book and on and make cp a more convincing story so that even if people hate the characters, it wouldn’t hinder them to think that the world is believable and memorable, and even if all of its characters and the events were removed, the world would not fall apart.
