And it’s donnneee I like it better than the other cover I don’t like it by itself lmfao. I think I’m going to turn up the contrast and throw in some crazy lights when laying out the cover. I’m still trying to find a way I like to paint faces, because I can use harsh and angular lines when I sketch, but when I paint everyone’s faces turn all soft and smooth and lose their personality just because of my brush strokes.

I spent all weekend slaving over bb1, but at least I think it’s sort of done now and I have 3 weeks (personal deadline) to figure out how to save everything in a pdf LOL. I’ve also thumbnailed a 10-page short story that I would like to include as an extra in the printed version. I don’t like making extra stories because I have to make it enjoyable, but pointless at the same time. The point of a bonus story is for it to be worth paying for, but really I don’t want to spoil anything that people who can’t buy it will never find out. THE DILEMMA

I’ve been bitching about my contrast problems for years and had always wanted to try starting out a painting in black and white, then colorize after, to fix the problem. I’ve finally done that because my procrastination spans across years… but I don’t think it worked because I just ended up with a black and white picture with no contrast LOL. That and I discovered I can’t paint freehand for shit without lines. like 80% of the time was spent on getting the characters right ): and they look cartoony

And I bought a poster of my own drawing back in December. I finally got off my lazy ass and bought a frame for it! now it’s sitting on the floor and probably going to be another month or so before it gets hung up on the wall LOL I NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT MY BAD HABITS

I haven’t drawn Vocruen for quite some time, and when I set down the sketch for this pic I realized, it’s because I don’t have a real set clothing design for him LOL;;;; so he gets random shirt and pants. and enormous hair… and tiny arms… the stick he’s holding is a flute with pipes attached to one end, inspired by the organ. I made this up a long time ago and still have yet to develop the design. I wanted this flute to be able to play some sort of polyphony, or at least a drone like bagpipes, hence the organ incorporation! it makes so much sense and no sense at the same time.

Weirin is complete! I finished this last week technically, but I forgot to draw the little flower on her shirt and I managed to put that off for like 7 days

And I saw this totally creepy roll of clouds yesterday night this morning at like 4 am (when I went to bed). It’s like a tidal wave that spanned the whole sky, slowly pushing across an otherwise clear night sky, lit in the distance by downtown Toronto. By the time I adjusted the camera to the right night time setting most of the sky was already covered by the clouds ): had I been faster this shot would’ve looked even cooler. I had to adjust the photo’s brightness tremendously on PS but I am surprised it showed decently, UNLIKE THE OTHER NIGHT PHOTO I TOOK BEFORE LMAO

We had our first real winter storm last week. The next day had some pretty nice skies and stuff so I took some pics throughout the day. What I realized from this was how much my new camera ROCKS compared to the old one. The light capturing is fucking amazing and aside from special situations like nighttime shooting (which I’m sure I just haven’t figured out how to handle yet, not because of the camera’s incompetence) what I shoot is basically what I see.

a 7am shot on sunday because my mom was trying really hard to wish my grandpa happy birthday over the phone and woke me up… I slept at like 4 ):

I was drawing zoomlines manually on this page and I was so scared I would mess up, because I use a relatively soft cardstock and I draw really hard, so mistakes would bruise the cardstock and be really hard to erase. So I scanned it in first and took a picture before I continued LOL… LIKE IT’S GOING TO LIGHT ON FIRE AT ANY MOMENT

This is what it looked like when I finished it on paper. I filled in the rest of the blacks on photoshop and basically blacked out most of the zoomlines I did on the bottom half because it looked better that way ): Now that I think back I probably should’ve just used a pen for that part instead; I wasted sooooo much lead on this page and I bet in like 2 years or something it’s going to smudge like crazy even though it’s in sheet protectors…and I’m going to cry ):

I also marked all the areas that I will fill in with black digitally just so I don’t get confused. I think usually comic artists use x’s, but I thought if I magic wand with x’s all over, I’m going to get little unselected corners that would be a pain in the ass to clean up. So I used c’s instead, and Meron’s cloak ended up looking like it toad skin HAHAHAH
