I decided in the end to keep the upside down madness that I’ve had going since version 1. I’m not crazy about the fonts idea for the menu and I still have no idea what the bottom half is going to be like, but other than that I think it’s ok! better than the other 2 or 3 ideas I came up with and ditched over the years LOL

and we have a cherry tree and an apple tree in our backyard and they recently bloomed, so my grandmother cut a twig and put it in a vase at home and I decided to take a random pic of it since it was sooooo pretty

but MAN I’ve spent AGES on this image for some reason. I was originally fond of the sketch, then during rough colouring and detailing a lot of anatomy errors began to bother me. And as I was getting through all of that, I kept wishing that I had designed more appealing clothing, even though simple designs are good for comic purposes and Veloce does have some bad memories about fancy clothing.

I was looking through a lot of comic/manga covers for layout and content reference, and I liked the cover designs for the japanese version of Bleach a lot. I don’t understand why they had to ruin it when they translated it into english. The cover art are not amazingly detailed and extravagant, but as a series I just love the congruence between each cover.

I’m done with the image on the left, awaiting approval! and I opened the blackbird cover line art right away and put down the rough colours while I have no “work” to do LOL (commissions, manga, shits and giggles) I was thinking to myself if I don’t post something in my normal style anytime soon, some of my watchers will be very confused and eventually forget why they watched me in the first place. That and heavens forbid, I forget how to draw in my normal style ROFL.

I think I’ll start keeping my art styles consistent again for a while. I think I have the general, personal feel of this realistic colouring thing down and I’ll leave it alone for now. I should probably get crackin on some anatomy adventures whenever I have time next seeing as I could use some major upgrade in that field.

I really need to finish those 50 pages of Blackbird too, it’s bothering me so much every time I work on new pages )X I’m not sure if it was a good idea back then to keep producing pages at the price of leaving them unfinished, since I could not escape hiatus in the end either way. Better luck next time imo ):

I’d like to say I’m doing 2 commissions at the moment on top of working to finish the first volume of blackbird, but for all the work, I still have nothing to post ]:

This way of colouring is working out quite well for me though. It’s a lot smoother than when I drew sepia’s archbishop, and it took a lot less time to refine because I actually did the line art and just hid it. I always wonder if a really clean sketch can go in place of line art since I can do a clean sketch much faster, but I’ll leave that for next time.

ugh I wish I have more wips to post ]: this blog is so LONELY.

I wish I had more time to draw stuff other than commissions too! Not to say that I don’t enjoy doing commissions. The commissions I’ve done since last summer were really fun to work on and I don’t remember enjoying it this much consistently when I’ve done commissions in the past. But I really need to put some time into doing a few Blackbird pics ]: it’s been 2 years since the last piece, am I correct? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Not to mention now that I can OH MY GOD FINALLY MOVE ON because volume 1 is almost finished, I need to flesh out some designs for some locations and a few supporting characters to come. One thing I disliked about volume 1 was the fact that I did most of the unimportant designs on the spot, as the pages unraveled. so a lot of it is really bad. The YEARS of breaks I took didn’t help either, as I made a lot of mistakes by forgetting design details and being inconsistent on a massive scale. I’m not going to turn around and fix it now because I swore not to do it, but I’m not going to let this happen to the rest of the story.
