AX 2013

I should’ve written this earlier but I think the many consecutive days of not working on anything was getting me anxious and restless, so I ended up drawing like 15 pages before thinking it’s ok to do something unproductive HAHA…

This was the first time I’ve been to AX since 2008, it was stressful to prepare and tiring to endure, but I had a great great time because in between these years, I’ve made a lot of close friends with whom I’ve never had an opportunity to meet. They were the highlights of the con and I wish I had stayed an extra few days longer esp when they offered to take me around LA touristing and fooding Q_Q we had soooooo much korean food tho I went from lv 0 korean food experience to at least lv 16, and I thoroughly felt what it feels like to be a non chinese surrounded by chinese people because I was so tense being surounded by koreans HAHA… THE HEAVY PRESENCE OF NON CHINESE ASIANS IS AVERY STRESSFUL THING.

I met my bff Sepia for the first time!! AND SHE HELPED ME MAKE SO MUCH SALES I’m kind of ashamed that I learned how to better man my table from her even tho it’s the 2nd con she’s ever been to in any form whatsoever sob. Even tho she’s not as hyper as most of my other friends–or maybe it’s because she’s not as hyper–we had a nice and pleasant time during and after the con. She was so thoughtful and brought us food and even made me home printed business cards after I ran out ;-; and she fired me from making my own business cards because I sucked too much at it ): and I met her flaffy purdy kitty ophelia before I flew out and had delicious homemade ramen by her dad TY SEPIA FOR PROVIDING MY SURVIVAL NECESSITIES

And here is erina the facedrawer/eraser who I also met for the first time

I didn’t take pics with anyone else I also met for the first time or first time in ages ): I was able to buy prints from some of them and have dinner with the rest of dem non artists. I sure am glad ax ends at a reasonable hour cus who does that anymore (lol otakon or akon hours) Here are some prints from KL, noabing, ruina, darkhikari, and ippus!! I didn’t get a print from some people I visited BECAUSE THEY WONT LET ME BUY THEM AN INSISTED ON TRADING and I forgot to visit them for trades after the con crey (sorry nagu ;-;)

CA weather was also remarkably forgiving, I actually flew into cooler weather and made the days all the easier to get by. I also would’ve died from logistics had it not been for Finni and Alex’s help, thanks soooo much!

And of course all the pics above belong to other people and the only pics I took were on the plane LOL… HOW SURPRISING. I saw some mini july 3 fireworks on the flight down and it was cute ouo

ending with some more pix of the sky

extremely long photo post

I haven’t drawn my own stuff in a while so let’s get some drawings out of the way! All I’ve done is really play with old scraps I have haha……………… I will probably paint these two next when I have time

And here is a random drawing from photo of clouds in google because I had no idea what to draw. added a little plane because I was looking at planes!

I went to NYC for a week, the first trip I’ve taken since Europe with the sole purpose of having a good time and taking a break. It was one of the best weeks in my whole life, even though the weather was half miserable and I had a lot of obstacles to dance around/had to take a lot of risks to even be there. I genuinely did not want to come back to Toronto and I’m just not in the mood to do anything at all nor do I want to try to get back into work. The rest of this post are allllllll photos and life stuff with no art, so skip at your leisure (:

China pic flood!

Finally I’m back! Well actually I was back since Monday, but I was having a lot of jet lag problems (which I didn’t have when I went to China, odd) so I didn’t have the motivation to pick out and edit the photos I took. I am finally kind of normal today in terms of sleeping schedule, so I actually had time. hopefully I’ll change my bio clock back in time for anime north.

The trip was ok; didn’t have too much fun but didn’t bore either. We managed to get to a lot of places despite sudden circumstances that prevented a normal trip. The (restaurant) food there was sooooooo gooooood :D** and stuff is so cheap. Well kinda. I bought a lot of random goodies that my dad would have doubted meaningfulness about. And I went to the salon many many times because they wash my hair very thoroughly, and massages it :D my cousin took me to do aromatherapy too but the guy couldn’t clip up my hair cus I have too much and they are too heavy. All in all, I got to be a visitor of my hometown instead of a resident, and it certainly made the city better. We spent so much money though; especially my mom. She doesn’t really think when she spends money. She used to have good spending morals, but lately she’s becoming an egohead… and after explaining and justifying her actions, she’s becoming a little too over her head. But at least I am benefitting from this, so that’s cool. We had to transfer twice on the plane because of the tickets we bought, and Northwest is NOT a good company so I got motion sickness on the first and last flights on both trips. It was horrible. And the flights were full so we couldn’t claime seats (unlike when we immigrated to canada; that time we each got like 2-3 seats cus no one was there.) But on the plane we sat next to a deaf man; he was really cool :D we “talked” and stuff. And we met a cute lil chinese girl that we thought were japanese too (since our flights pass through japan) until we found out that she lives really close to us.

I also drew (kind of) a lot of sketches and stuff, but most of them can’t be shown cus it’s so unrefined >> I rely on the computer too much to be able to sketch better. Although here’s a part of one of them with the background cut out because it was out of place :l

And here are the pictures (including some 2-3 pictures taken in London a few days before I moved out)! ya they aren’t really great, I’m not a good photographer :l and I also don’t have an affinity to taking pictures of people x) (including myself, though there is a picture of me eating udon at the Tokyo airport)

Oh and I bought artbooks too! (thanks to my cousin’s and Jenny’s advices of looking out at newspaper stands and in a comic city) Finally after so many years, I own artbooks. I didn’t get to pick though; I just bought whatever that’s there cus it was so rare. Victory!::
